Project Void — Raising Awareness on Depression

Project Void — Raising Awareness on Depression
Graphic Design, Branding | 2017
Project Void was a project working on social issues, in particular, depression. Everyone experiences sadness, but most people learn to cope with them and continue as per normal in life. Some people are unable to cope with their sadness and this feeling starts to affect their daily lives and behaviour, as they struggle to live with it or find their ways of "solving" it.

Depressed people need external help and support to cope with their sadness / stress, and people who help them have to be sensitive, understanding and tactful. Thus, the awareness on depression can help people identify those who may need help, and provide them with some knowledge on how they might be able to help.

Project Void was named based on the feelings of emptiness and loneliness that depressed people tend to feel, not knowing what they are feeling and why they are feeling a particular way. Following an art zine and personas generation, Project Void is an extension into branding an effort in raising awareness on depression. Graphic / Quote tees would be sold at pop-up stalls and online as a trendy and cost effective way to spread the message as people wear them out. The profits can also be used to subsidize depression treatment for patients.
First, the prototype of the quote tee was done. Kept simple and subtle, a logo is on the front left chest, and the quote is across the back.
The packaging for the tee was done to be a simple box, with a sticker label similar to medication as depression is an illness that can be controlled by medication, unlike the negative stereotype that it is just a person's weakness and vulnerability.
A card was also included in the packaging to give context and information about Project Void.
Apart from the tee, there was also a mobile application prototype made, which provides information on Project Void as well as the ordering of tees.
Lastly, the traditional medium of printed poster as a means of raising awareness to Project Void.
